Wednesday Night at Speed World OrlandoLooking for a little something different in the middle of Bike Week led me down I-95 to SR-50. There, just 30 miles east of Orlando, is a little drag strip known as the Speed World Dragway. For a measly $10 gate fee and $15 to race, it has got to be the bargain of the week. On Wednesday night, the Hurricane Alley Chapter of the Victory Motorcycle Club put on a little show. Actually it was more like a grudge match. After a quick tech inspection, the efficient, folksy event will turn you loose to do your worst on the race course.
This was like any other Wednesday drag race to the folks at the speedway; there were a number of sportbikes, Harleys, and cars racing as well, but the biggest single contingent was the Victory riders.
All year long, Club members from all around the country talk smack on the Internet about who's going to kick whose ass, and on Wednesday, when the flag drops (actually, it's a green light), the poo poo stops. With colorful 'Net nicknames like Jethro, Kevin X and others, how could you not be amused? I'll be back in October for Biketoberfest!
